Biography in Sound was an hour-long documentary radio program that was produced and broadcast in the 1950s. It's one of the best examples of radio excellence - the production is exemplary and I find every episode to be compelling.

Proudly We Hail was a syndicated Cold War / JET AGE! / Korean War-era radio program that was produced by the US government to promote Army, WAC, and Air Force recruitment. It featured radio dramas in a variety of genres - SciFi, patriotic, true stories, biographical, etc.
It was also broadcast on AFRS. Some of these files suffered from that curious practice (that some companies that sell OTR have undertaken) of slightly slowing down the speed of the broadcast. NPR has said that Vox Pop was the first 'Quiz Show' but that was sort of peripheral to the show, which was produced in a different location each week.
