I just counted out the rooms with very rough estimates. The thing to really get upset about is how to actually utilize your space. When you have a huge room vertically, or even several rooms stacked on top of each other, you can't reach things unless you use some of the space on platforms or elevators.The reason I love the human ship design is that it only has 3 levels. Jumping up one floor or down one floor, I barely use any of my space on platforms. This is also what makes certain chemists good: combining jump boosts and speed boosts allows you to jump up and down farther with fewer platforms required. Goes for both you and your crew.

After upgrading all the ships and counting the tiles myself, I have determined the following maximum free space (foreground):Floran = 4,506 empty blocksApex = 4,223 empty blocksHuman ship = 4,196 empty blocksAvian = 4,166 empty blocksGlitch = 4,125 empty blocksNovakid = 4,103 empty blocksHylotl = 3,838 empty blocksTechnically the novakid ship isn't the smallest, but 400 blocks less than another is still ridiculous imo.Even though 3,800 blocks is plenty, I still feel inclined to say that Hylotl are the most hardcore.
