Hello, I too for longer periods of time when flying to Fort Myers, going to our place at. Usually up to a month at a time. Right now I am looking for the best price for a two month period. Most times I use Dollar rental having joined their Express club. What I did find out from one of their managers last April when i need the for 32 days is that the law in only lets the rental companies have a out for a month at a time. Anything longer is considered a 'lease'.

You are also subject to prices that go up and down with the busier seasons. This time it seems my rental may have to be for the first 3 weeks I will be there, then taking hubby back to airport, arrange a new contract before I drop him off so I get another for the next 3 weeks until I pick him up again, then arrange yet another contract for another 3 weeks. I have the one staying just over 2 months but hubby has to go back and forth twice.
If anyone does find out an easier way, I'd love to hear it. Since this is our first year of owning a condo learning about such problems is normal. It does appear many people buy a used that they are allowed to leave at their condos in the covered parking spots. That may be the way to go since I know I will be back for at least another 2 months this winter. Winters just aren't my thing anymore!
I have a house there, but as my kids are still in school I never go for longer than 2 weeks at a time.I have heard that the larger companies will do longer rentals, but you have to come back to the airport (or your nearest office if closer ) to sign a new contract- as said above they can only do one for 30 days. They would probably even let you keep the same if you wanted to.So price several 30 day contracts, and compare with the rent a wreck places for price.I have found all the I have hired in the last year have been higher mileage due to the credit crunch. But the Lady at Dollar told me a week ago they were expecting a bunch of newer in. I had to go there to return the I rented at as it was faulty. HiWe are seasonal UK homeowners and usually hire a for 1 day from airport to get us down to / area and then go to a local rental office for the bulk of our stay. We arrange usually to take it back to Tampa airport but that depends upon which firm we have used.

This way we have saved hundreds of dollars as hiring for a long period on-airport is very expensive. My husband spends a lot of time in the UK checking out the various deals as the rates can vary so much. Being members of AAARP has helped with the discounts and upgrades.
